Reports on classic cars are full of shiny, restored and better-than-new classics. But there are also other examples, such as the 1949 VWBeetle pictured here with a 1950 pickup body. The car had been buried for years and was dug up again in 1994.
The owner from Schwangau in the Allgäu region still uses the Beetle pickup today and the steering wheel can be removed to make it a little easier to get into.
We wish the sprightly oldie, which at some point was fitted with 15-inch wheels and a more powerful engine, many more years of active use - after all, it was built in the same year as the windshield end ...
