Still going strong at 50 (question of the month)
With the increasing complication of modern cars and the rising prices of new cars, classic cars are also becoming more interesting for everyday use. But how old can a car be at most to be able to keep up with modern traffic and be driven every day without any problems? Our " question of the month" has provided the answers:
The seventies received the highest response. Well over a quarter (28.2%) of our readers were of the opinion that cars from this decade (and of course all subsequent decades) are still fully suitable for everyday use today.
The following decades found almost the same number of advocates, with 21.2% for the 1960s and 21.6% for the 1980s. For cars from the fifties, only half as many are confident that they (and themselves) can be used every day without any problems.
It is interesting to note that the 1940s are considered quite unsuitable with 2.1% of the votes, while designs from the 1930s are considered surprisingly suitable for everyday use with 8.7%. True to the motto: if it's old, then it's old enough.
Also noteworthy: the number of those who believe that an almost hundred-year-old car is suitable for modern everyday use is almost twice as high as those who would only consider a classic car. For 4.7% of our readers, their everyday car must be at least from the 1990s.
