The beast of Gerhard Berger

On October 31, a very special Ferrari F40 will go under the hammer at the RM/Sotheby's auction in London. It is not the car that is special, it is also just one of the plus/minus (rather plus) 40 super sports car models built in Maranello.
The name of the current owner makes the car special. None other than ex-Ferrari and McLaren F1 driver Gerhard Berger is selling it after owning it for a year and a half.
The car was sold new to Singapore, then went to Japan and arrived in the beautiful Tyrol via Germany, where it was completely overhauled for around € 80,000.
Both the Ferrari and Gerhard were present at the photo shoot in Wörgl. On the old "Wörgl-Wildschönau" mountain racetrack, Gerhard let the F40 fly into the mountains for a photo opportunity. At a construction site traffic light, people got out of their cars and took photos of the hot-blooded Italian from all sides with their cell phones, unaware of who was behind the wheel. "The car is not just an absolute super sports car, no, it's a real beast," said Gerhard with a laugh and let the little horse jump.
The no-frills look (without any slits or edges) and the infernal sound (without artificial flaps or sound systems) are simply great cinema and the F40 is and remains one of the craziest Ferraris of all time. The car will be on sale for £900,000 (just over a million euros) in London at the end of October.
