A large center is being created

So there we were, standing in an almost endless hall. The longer edge of this building, where railroad locomotives were once repaired, measures 185 meters. And Motorworld Munich is due to open here in just a few months' time.
You can already make out the contours and elements, e.g. the future glass boxes, the hotel, the spacious staircase, the concert hall or the small cinema. But there is still a lot to do before the huge steel structure hall on Lilienhtalallee in Munich becomes a world of experience for car and motorcycle enthusiasts. The visualization shows the future appearance.
The world has stood still for almost 25 years in one of the largest self-supporting halls in Europe, but construction has been underway since 2016.
The railroad repair works were originally built in 1916 by Friedrich Krupp AG as the "Bayerische Geschützwerke". The Reichsbahn then took it over as a factory site in the 1920s. Between 1932 and 1940, thousands of steam and electric locomotives, catenary railcars, freight wagons and road vehicles were inspected and repaired. The last steam locomotive left the halls in 1953 and the last freight wagon in 1961. In the 1970s, the site experienced one last revival with the construction of the Munich S-Bahn system on the occasion of the 1972 Olympic Games, until it was finally abandoned by Deutsche Bahn in 1995.
The large cranes that were used to move the locomotives back then are still there today and will remain in the future, giving Motorworld the industrial chic it strives for.
It is a huge project and the construction workers are buzzing around the hall like busy bees, laying a parquet floor here, putting up a wall there or installing a lamp.
It's still hard to imagine what it will look like when it opens, when the hotel, the various restaurants and bars, the retailers and service providers will be waiting for their first customers. But one thing is certain, it is a mammoth task to manage such a complex and large project. Hats (or construction helmets) off!
