Without spectators, classic car events are not attractive enough (Question of the week)
Cheering classic car lovers, smiling enthusiasts on the roadsides, enthusiastic fans in the grandstands, knowledgeable interested parties between parked classic cars. This is how it looked before Covid-19 and many an organizer could hardly resist the interest of the public. But with the corona measures, spectators have to be completely or partially dispensed with and the fans are no longer as numerous.
But are classic car events still attractive without spectators? We wanted to find out from Zwischengas readers, 176 of whom responded, and posed the following " Question of the Week":
How important are spectators to you when you attend an event or drive up in your old car?
It turns out that spectators are definitely important. Only 22.2% don't care whether someone is watching or not.
38.6% think spectators are important and crucial. After all, the atmosphere at an event depends largely on the spectators and their enthusiasm.
35.6% believe that the importance of the audience depends on the type of event. Large events such as the AvD OGP or the Ennstal-Classic would be hard to imagine without fans, while other (smaller) events are perhaps less dependent on spectators.
In total, over 74% find events without spectators less attractive, at least in part, than those with a normal number of visitors. 3.4% could not agree with any of the answers given.
