The Saalbach Classic has to throw in the towel

After a good seven years, the Saalbach Classic has to throw in the towel due to a budget that could not be put together for 2019. Unfortunately, the universally popular and, above all, very familiar Saalbach Classic will disappear from the calendar of events.
It will certainly not be the only event struggling with financial difficulties. Expectations of events are increasingly becoming almost limitless. From ever longer stages, to gifts such as mobile phones, watch jackets and bags when registering, to top culinary delights and ever more expensive prizes for the winners.
In addition, the choice of events has become so large that they are eating away at each other's participants. The remaining sponsors have ever smaller budgets and have to distribute them wisely. However, costs can hardly be reduced, even more cars would go beyond the scope and the participation fee cannot be increased every year either. So the cat keeps biting its own tail.
It was clear that not all events would last, but it is a shame that the Saalbach Classic was one of the first to be hit, as it always tried to set a small counter-movement to the big ones by placing more emphasis on the social and family aspects than on anonymous mileage eating. What a pity!

Dear friends of the Saalbach-Classic,
Over the past 7 years, we have worked on our "Saalbach" with great commitment, joy and passion. What my father Hannes Fürstauer created together with media professional Walter Zipser has become one of the most top-class classic car events in Austria in recent years.
Unfortunately, it has not been possible to set up the budget for 2019 in such a way that the usual and expected quality can be met. We do not want to and cannot make any compromises here.
Therefore, it is unfortunately "time to say good-bye" .
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our dear friends, participants, partners, volunteers and sponsors for the trust they have placed in us and for the excellent and passionate cooperation.
We wish you continued success, good health and lively petrol talks!
Entry fees already paid for 2019 will of course be refunded in the next few days.
