Every year, shortly before the New Year, a few F1 insider friends meet up in Zug near Lech am Arlberg. Mario Illien, the engine pope from Chur, is always there too.
As a big fan of historic cars, he will be taking part in the 32-day rally from Beijing to Paris for the second time this year, once again with his daughter Noel in the passenger seat, of course.
His Citroën Traction Avant is still in its individual parts in the garage at the moment, but will certainly be ready on its own wheels in time for shipment to China in March.
People are already wondering how the Red Bull team will cope for a whole month with its new Honda engines without Mario. "I'll make sure that it will run without my presence," laughed Mario and continued with much interest in the Zwischengas annual magazine ...
