Diesel driving bans endanger youngtimers in particular (Question of the week)
More and more driving bans are being imposed in cities and even beyond. Currently, this mainly affects diesel vehicles, but there is a risk that vintage and classic cars will also be banned from city centers and prohibited zones.
In a" question of the week" , we asked Zwischengas readers whether the imposed and announced driving bans also pose a risk to classic vehicles.
The majority of the 322 respondents, 48.3 percent to be precise, believe that youngtimers in particular are at risk because they have neither H license plates nor special classic car privileges.
23.8 percent of respondents believe that classic cars and youngtimers are at risk, partly because they naturally do not meet the strict environmental standards any more than Euro 4 or Euro 5 diesels.
Around a quarter (25.7 percent) believe that the driving bans will not affect either classic cars or youngtimers, as they make up a very small proportion of the total traffic volume. And for a further 2.2 percent, no answer matched their own view.
Overall, more than 70 percent fear that the current discussions and driving bans could also have an impact on youngtimers and classic cars. And presumably not only on the current stock, but also on the future stock.
