Classic car prices will stagnate in 2019 (question of the week)
The optimism that our readers still exuded in 2017 and 2016 seems to have evaporated. We wanted to know how classic car prices will develop in 2019 and asked a question of the week in which 382 Zwischengas readers took part. Their verdict is clear.
43.7 percent assume that the prices of sought-after classic cars will increase in exceptional cases at most, but will stagnate in most cases.
20.4 percent even expect prices to fall slightly, even for sought-after classics.
18.8 percent hope for a slight increase in prices.
14.1 percent expect the correction phase to continue and prices to fall across the board.
Only 2.4% believe that prices could rise again in 2019 at the same rate as two or three years ago.
Graphically, the result is as follows:
The difference to the similar survey two years ago is also interesting . Back then, 43% assumed that prices would continue to rise, while 14% even expected strong growth in value. This 57% can be directly compared with the approximately 21% in the current survey.
At the same time, around 64% expect prices to stagnate or fall slightly in 2019, compared to just 37% in 2017.
Compared to two years ago, our readers have therefore become much more cautious and pessimistic when it comes to expected growth rates.
However, we have already formulated a new question of the week. This time, we want to know whether you think classic/young cars are at risk from driving bans .
And, as always, all previous questions of the week and their evaluations can of course be viewed in a separate topic channel.
