Lignières history - A look back at a race in 1969
07/10/2013
We reported in detail on the Lignières Historique event the day before yesterday. And fortunately, some of the racing drivers who drove "real" races on the short circuit 45 years ago also responded.
For example, on June 8, 1969, when production touring cars, sports cars, racing cars and formula cars competed in one day as part of a racing cycle organized by ACS Neuchâtel.
Charles Riesen, who drove the same F2 Brabham that we saw last weekend, was kind enough to send us a list of results and a few photographs that we would like to share with our readers.
The list of results includes some of the cars that could also be seen at the Lignières Historique, such as the BMC Cooper, the NSU TT and the Alfa Romeo GTA. However, the list also includes vehicles that are rarely seen in historic racing today, such as a Hilman Imp, a Honda N600 or an Opel Kadett (A) Rallye.
But let the pictures speak for themselves, which include a Brabham F2, a Lotus 20 and a Jaguar Mk II. And we are delighted that Charles Riesen was at the start again in 2013, this time in a Porsche instead of the Brabham of the time.
