Personalized history on the Solitudering

Old cars revive the spirit of days gone by, and the Solitude Revival will take place from July 19 to 21, 2013 at the Solitudering. But even more than the cars, the old heroes take us back to the past.
Yesterday, I spotted Hans Herrmann, who was always in a good mood, driving on the Solitudering 60 or more years ago. In 1954, for example, Mercedes had the Ring closed for a day for test drives and Herrmann drove a dream lap of 4:52 in the 300 SL racing car. "Mercedes sets new Solitude best time," race director Neubauer dictated to the media representatives.
So he's back in 2013, driving an RS 60 Spyder from 1960 with a mid-engine, not quite as fast perhaps, but certainly reminiscing.
And he is not the only Solitude legend at the start. There is also Eberhard Mahle, for example, who won races at Solitude with touring cars from NSU and Volvo. And in the "110 Years of Solitude" anniversary race, he will be driving a Porsche 356 Carrera Abarth from 1963, the car that can be recognized by the cooling slots on the rear ...
