Sports car design - functional yet individual
07/21/2013
You might think that racing car manufacturers don't primarily think about recognizability and individuality when they design the headlamp section of a racing car, for example.
At the end of the day, it's all about installing one or two lamps in such a way that maximum light output is possible with optimum aerodynamics.
Well, if you compare a number of such designs, you will notice that despite the tight specifications, the design solutions are actually very recognizable, as our pictures show.
For those who couldn't recognize all the sports cars straight away, these are an Alfa Romeo 33/2 Daytona, a Porsche 908-2, a René Bonnet Aerojet LM Renault, a Ferrari 500 Mondial Spider and a Fiat-Abarth 2000 Sport.
All of these cars can be seen again today at the Solitude Revival, but you shouldn't just make the pilgrimage there for the beautifully wrapped headlights.
A comprehensive report on the Solitude Revival will soon be available on Zwischengas.
