Bugatti Type 35 one-make cup launched
04/01/2012
In times when it is becoming increasingly difficult to drive vintage and classic cars in an appropriate manner, this new idea comes just in time!
Fans of fast pre-war racing cars can now register for the Trofeo 35B Pursang 2013! This new one-make cup kills several birds with one stone. Amateur racing drivers will have the opportunity to compete against each other in the most classic pre-war racing car of all, the Bugatti Type 35. Pursang, the well-known manufacturer of Bugatti recreations, substantially expands its customer base and the sponsors, a well-known bank and an insurance company active in the classic car sector, receive a lot of publicity.
A leasing option has even been worked out to make entry possible for as many interested parties as possible! A whole season of racing on six internationally renowned circuits (Monza, Nürburgring, Spa, Goodwood and Monthléry, among others, are being discussed) will cost just 65,000 euros. However, insurance must be taken out separately and participants are liable for their own vehicles in the event of damage. In addition, all competitors must have a racing driver's license.
In order to do justice to the historical environment, the vehicles must be driven with open helmets and exclusively in traditional racing suits.
At the moment, the organizers are still struggling with the cooperation with well-known classic car events such as the AVD Oldtimer Grand Prix or the Hockenheim Historics.
However, nobody doubts that this new approach will be successful. There are already numerous entries for the 26 starting places, so the organizers only have room for a few more starters.
Addendum: The first of April is history and the announced race series was (unfortunately) an April Fool's joke, which hopefully made you laugh as much as we did.
But who knows, maybe someone will actually organize such a trofeo one day! It could definitely be fun, provided you have the small change.
