Holland is not just about tulips and cheese - historic racing in the NK HTGT
04/18/2011
Anyone who was in Hockenheim last weekend was able to see for themselves. Holland is not only home to tulips and cheese, canals and flatlands, but also exciting historic racing series.
What the guys from the NK HTGT, the Dutch championship for historic touring cars and Gran Turismo from 1957 to 1965, offered was a feast for the eyes and ears. Thrilling wheel-to-wheel competitions, beautiful powerslides and, above all, beautifully prepared racing cars were on display. Highlights were certainly the victorious Ford GT 40, the incredibly powerful Corvette Gran Sport, the beautiful TVR Griffith, the extremely rarely seen Iso A3C, the pack of Lotus Elan, but also the Ford Escort, Porsche 911 and many others. The field was over 30 cars strong and made for great entertainment. Keep up the good work!
Why the Hockenheim organizers had to (or wanted to) resort to Dutch championships for two series is another question. In any case, the audience's enjoyment was not dampened.
Incidentally, the picture shows the Griffith, which had a wonderful duel with the Iso A3C on Saturday, but was unfortunately unable to drive on Sunday.
