With the Volvo in the cold chamber in 1962
As early as 1962, Volvo had a cold chamber for testing vehicles at low temperatures. As the picture shows, however, the chamber was barely larger than the vehicle itself, so that the actual functional tests had to be carried out outside the chamber.
In 1962, many households did not even have a refrigerator, as these were very expensive, and the freezer compartment was rented in a common room in the village.
