It's green!

Sometimes you only realize decades later how much your own toy cars have influenced you. Especially when it comes to foreign, rare, historic or any combination of these characteristics, as a youngster you like to rely on the miniature in your nursery. After all, it's not every day that you see a model to compare with on the way to school. You had to be even more gullible with one-offs that you didn't even come across at classic car meetings or in magazines.
Take the Bertone Carabo based on the Alfa Romeo 33, for example, which Matchbox put on the Superfast wheels in garish magenta metallic. It burned itself into my memory, even though I initially thought it was a fantasy product that had simply been given a real brand name for the sake of credibility. After all, the (not necessarily more discreetly colored) Vauxhall Guildsman was nothing more than a fantasy cast in zinc.
Many years later, when I saw the real Carabo for the first time in a magazine, I was surprised: this thing really exists! Nevertheless, I am still bothered by the fact that it has the wrong color...
