Classic pearl of the future - Toyota GR Supra
The Toyota GR Supra came onto the market in 2019. Fans of the legendary Supra ancestor series raised their eyebrows a little because Toyota had developed the coupé together with BMW. However, while the BMW Z4 is a convertible, the Supra is only available in a closed version.
The differences between the Z4 and Supra are comparatively small under the bodywork, which clearly differentiates the Japanese from BMW. At least this was initially the case when the GR Supra was only available with the three-liter inline six-cylinder engine and eight-speed automatic transmission. In the meantime, however, the Supra is also available with a manual gearbox (6 gears, only in combination with the six-cylinder) and with a two-liter four-cylinder. There are currently even rumors of a variant with an M3 six-cylinder engine and manual transmission.
The Toyota GR Supra won the hearts of many sports car fans with its manual gearbox in particular, and who knows what hot variants will follow.
As a manual transmission Supra, the Toyota will be available from CHF 64,900 or EUR 66,450 at the beginning of 2024, including a comprehensive warranty package. Although many of these Supras are likely to be ordered in white, gray and black paint finishes, there are also real colors such as blue, red and yellow available, which may be particularly sought after in a few years, who knows!
In any case, the Toyota GR Supra is one of the few cars in current production that is still reasonably affordable and has classic pearl potential.
We should actually produce a comparison of the GR Supra with the fourth generation Supra as soon as possible. All we have to do is find a coupé with a matching color and a large rear wing.
