The leap into the new year

We wish all our readers a good start to 2024! And we hope that the new year goes more smoothly for you than it did for the Jeep crews at the "Press on Regardless" rally through Michigan in November 1973: "Before the evening dawned, the two highly favored Jeeps had already broken down (POR victory in 1972): Assembly errors in the engines. The pistons hit the spark plugs and one cylinder after the other failed in the 7-liter V8 engines."
However, we can learn two things from this little episode, namely that four-wheel drive could already lead to rally victories over 50 years ago, and that more displacement and power never hurts, unless they are not accompanied by reliability.
Incidentally, the USA rally was won by a Toyota Corolla, ahead of a Volvo 142 S and a Datsun 240 Z.
But there is another reason why the picturefits well at the beginning of the year. "Keep Right" is written on the sign, or you could also say "stay on the right part of the road". And that's what we would like to wish you from the bottom of our hearts, namely an accident-free journey with lots of great experiences in the old car!
