It's all banana, you plum!

The names that the Chrysler Corporation gave its signal colors in the early 1970s were at least as bright as the colors themselves. The division poets seemed to be particularly inspired by the extra portion of vitamins that mommy or mistress had packed in their sandwich box. There were crazy plums, crass limes, twisted lemons, top bananas and mangoes that had been scared off.
The best-known ingredient in the resin fruit salad is probably the dark purple "Plum Crazy" from the Dodge range, followed by the bright green "Sub-Lime" and the bright orange "Go Mango". In keeping with the high content of ascorbic acid in the color-matching fruit, the same shade was simply called "Vitamin C" at Plymouth.
However, the customers there preferred the other citrus fruits on display: with 9 percent of production, bright yellow "Lemon Twist" was the most popular bright color among Barracuda shoppers. It was also quite popular at Dodge as "Top Banana". However, people there preferred a more muted color. Around 13 percent of Challenger buyers officially declared themselves crazy with their preference for plum.
Incidentally, we spotted both colorful E-bodies at the 2023 FNA Annual Meeting .
