Better to let others do the work (car connoisseur quiz)
Not every car manufacturer developed their own engines. Some could not afford this effort, others did not want to. The smaller the company, the more time and money could be saved in relation to the overall budget by simply buying in a ready-made, tried-and-tested engine.
On the other hand, simply replacing the engine was the easiest way to transform a bland sedan into a wicked track terror, as the Ford Cortina with Lotus twin cam impressively demonstrated. Conversely, there were also numerous "sheep in wolf's clothing" that looked like a racy sports car but rattled along with 34 air-cooled VW horsepower.
We came up with ten questions on the subject of third-party engines. Sometimes we are looking for the donor vehicle, sometimes the donated one - or even one that never received a particular engine. Sounds unusually complicated? But it's not really. Would you like to give it a try?
