When cars still had faces
09/03/2023
Recently, a reader commented that cars used to have real faces after all. And that modern cars had far too jagged and actually unfriendly front designs. We understand this very well and during our visit to the ASC Classic Gala in Schwetzingen, we really noticed a lot of "faces", which we are happy to share with our readers as examples.
Of course, the original version of the Austin-Healey Sprite had a really striking face (photo above).
But pre-war cars also showed their friendly side from the front, like this Ford Eifel.
And the two DKW two-stroke derivatives, one from IFA and one from Auto Union, showed how the face of cars has changed.
The NSU/Fiat Jagst 770 also had a very characteristic face.
And the Opel captains also looked friendly at times, but sometimes also a little snarling.
A Porsche 356 Speedster appears to be looking relatively confidently at the roads, ...
... while the Saab 92 not only looks a little sad because it was in barn-find condition, but also because it was painted like this.
Incidentally, you can still see all of these cars all day today, Sunday, September 3, 2023, in Schwetzingen Palace Park; a visit is worthwhile and not at all expensive.
