When side windows were still curtains

How glad we are that we no longer have to contort ourselves all over the car to roll down the passenger window when we want to speak to a passer-by at the side of the road. Today, all we have to do is press a button on the door, the center console or the dashboard and the window whirs down electrically. Nowadays, you don't even have to keep your finger on the button.
But even the window crank seems to have been a great invention and an even greater salvation when you look at this Horch 10/12 PS with all-weather soft top. On this four-cylinder car built in 1905, the "side windows" are rolled up along the entire length and secured there with four straps on each side. So anyone who just wanted to ask for directions in rainy weather had a little longer to do.
