Readers from Germany in particular are likely to remember the yellow and orange sweets with the soft filling, the name of which reminded them to try both flavors if possible. What is relatively easy to implement with sweets is somewhat more difficult with cars. However, this did not stop the Ford Motor Company from trying in 1961. Motto: one Ford is good, two are better.
And so the brochure that year openly advertised the double purchase: "Why not treat yourself to a Country Squire in addition to your stylish Galaxie". It didn't matter that money wasn't so easy to come by, even for the high-earning suburban daddies. You could always give it a try. Of course, they also offered cheaper combinations such as a Falcon to a Ranch Wagon. The only thing the brochure didn't mention was the minimum purchase quantity for which a Thunderbird was included free of charge...
