I could actually delete my search request on bringatrailer.com. After all, I've now found what I've been looking for for fifteen years. But the curiosity is too great. Somehow you don't want to miss anything.
The other day, another message popped up saying that a new Studebaker had been hired. Not a Commander, Golden Hawk or Avanti, however, but a J30M COE, a three-axle flatbed truck from 1937 with a front-wheel-drive cab in the best streamlined shape. And suddenly the cabinet of curiosities in my brain was urging me to make a bid again.
What to do with it? To be the coolest at the next Older Classics. Because you certainly won't be the fastest with the 96 hp six-cylinder. Incidentally, it goes by the name of "Hercules". And anyone who wants to steer this monster through Switzerland without power steering should have a similar build.
My savings are still exhausted, so it's probably not going to happen for the time being with the stylish Shoshone transporter. But perhaps one of our readers is craving some extra full-body training. The auction runs until September 12.
