One to two tank fillings per year
According to a recent study, the average classic car driver covers 790 km per year. The figure may vary from country to country and an average does not, of course, represent the individual classic car driver.
Nevertheless, it makes you think that the average classic car driver only refuels once or twice a year. In fact, many of them are still driving on last year's tank. From this it can be deduced that the fuel in the tank has gained significantly more value (relatively) than the car around it. So you're sitting on a really good investment, so to speak, only to burn it up at some point (joke). It is actually surprising that no tank contents are yet being offered on eBay along the lines of: Sell 50 liters of well-stored unleaded super gasoline for EUR/CHF 1.80 per liter.
The long shelf life of gasoline naturally also leads to problems: old gasoline ignites worse and half-full tanks can promote rust formation. And if the average is 1-2 tank fillings per year, then there will also be those who already have two-year-old gasoline in their old car ...
