Collecting model cars is (almost) part of the classic car hobby (question of the week)
Of course, life-size classic cars are a great thing. But the passion for classic cars doesn't have to be limited to 1:1 scale. Today, there is a model of almost every halfway significant car ever built in every size and color. So you can also enjoy the great body shape, the deep glossy paintwork or the detailed reproduction of the twin carburetors in your living room. What's more, the selection of super classics, which would be prohibitively expensive in life-size, is much larger in miniature.
So do vintage and classic car enthusiasts also collect model cars? We wanted to find out with a " question of the week" .
54.8 percent of the 407 respondents actually collect model cars, as this is the only way they can afford their dream cars.
18.7 percent only buy model cars that are also in their garage.
9.1 percent do not collect model cars, either because they have no space for them (1.7 percent) or because they are primarily interested in cars that can also be driven (7.4 percent).
Apparently the answers given were poorly formulated, as 17.4 percent could not find themselves anywhere.
