Question of the week - Should classic cars be improved and optimized?

So much knowledge and so many insights and opinions come together, it is only natural that we would like to involve you, our readers, and find out what you think about controversial and special classic car topics.
To this end, we are introducing the "Question of the Week". Every weekend we will pose a new question and hope that you will let us know what you think.
Instead of theorizing, let's start with the first question:
What do you think of modifications to classic cars that serve to improve drivability at the expense of originality, e.g. include retrofitted power steering systems, more modern gearboxes or disc brakes instead of drum brakes?
