60 years ago - 75 years of automobile construction
In 1961, 75 years of automobile construction were celebrated. The magazine "auto motor und sport" devoted an extensive section of issue 7/1961 to this topic.
Among other things, the test editors drove a 67-year-old Benz Viktoria and a 51-year-old Mercedes Knight 16/45 PS. And they found these cars to be very old. If you were to do the same today, the similarly aged test candidates would be the Jaguar XK140 and Ford Capri. However, these cars wouldn't seem really old; after all, automotive history now spans 135 years.
Paul Simsa also wrote an article entitled "Only 75 years?" in which he talked about the predecessors of the self-driving car with a combustion engine, before moving on to the Hanomag Kommissbrot and Bugatti.
