Little Red Corvette (car connoisseur quiz)
12/10/2021
It appears in almost every list of the "Ten best songs about cars": The song "Little Red Corvette" by Prince. The stupid thing about it: it's not about the car at all. It's about a woman who is as lascivious as the sports car's Coke-bottle dress, which is why the bright red Chevy only serves as a metaphor.
That's why we went in search of songs that are actually about cars on all levels. Anyone who hasn't quite got over the Prince disappointment should listen to "54 Corvette" by the Super Stocks, released in 1963, as a consolation. The cheerful surf rock of the early sixties was also the most productive genre in our search, especially for sports car fans: Jaguar E-Type, Shelby Cobra, Chevy Impala, Corvette Sting Ray, Ford Thunderbird, Pontiac and Ferrari GTO and even a Lotus 23 aroused the enthusiasm of the surfers. Among German punk bands, the Opel brand was conspicuously often represented.
We are deliberately not naming the artists here, because we want you to guess them if possible: in our latest car connoisseur quiz , which this time is strictly speaking more of a music connoisseur quiz.
