When cars (at the Techno Classica) tell stories ...
04/09/2017
Today, April 9, 2017, this year's Techno Classica opens its doors for the last time to allow around 30,000 to 50,000 visitors to stream through the halls. If they make it to the back hall, they will also pass by the BMW stand. And they should then take the time to read the "Club Stories".
Each vehicle exhibited by a club member is accompanied by its history and interesting facts about the car on display. Like Stephan Pröpsting's BMW 1800 TI/SA, for example. There you learn that TI/SA stands for "Touring International Sport Ausführung" and that the beautifully presented car is the 181st of 200 four-door models produced, which was sold to Max Hoffmann in the USA in 1965.
There, the sporty BMW took part in the TransAm Championship and other racing events until Pröpsting was able to buy it in 2001 and brought it back to Germany in 2002.
He also showed the car at historic racing events and restored it extensively. Today, it is even used for private trips, once again demonstrating its duality - road and race track.
And that is just one of the stories told at BMW ...
