More is not always more! Are there too many historic racing events?
For the owner of an old racing car, it is of course great to have a large selection of events in which he can enter his car. More and more historic racing events seem to be springing up, which is not a blessing in disguise for spectators.
A good example is the Bosch Hockenheim Historic, which is taking place this weekend. Compared to previous years, the program contains significantly fewer attractions, at least from a historical perspective. The races of the Lotus Club Europe, the Boss GP or the Special Touring Car Trophy H&R Cup may be exciting, but they do not replace missing racing classes such as the historic Formula 1 cars of the sixties and seventies, Granturismo sports cars of the sixties or the dwarfs Abarth, Mini, TT and Co , which used to be seen at the Hockenheimring.
Some of these racing series have switched to other weekends (and other race tracks) and then race in front of almost empty crowds. That is actually a great pity. Here, less (in the sense of fewer historic motor events) would perhaps be more. Certainly from the audience's point of view.
