The driver of the Ford GT40 must have been amazed when his door almost flew off during the Spa Six Hours race. The last lap must have been adventurous, as one hand held the door while the other was responsible for steering and changing gear.
That must have been it, most spectators thought, but far from it.
A little later, the Ford GT40 was back in the race, with the door extensively glued on! It is unclear how the driver was able to get in and out of the car at all in view of this repair, but at least he stayed in the race. And how - the car finished in second place after six hours with a gap of just one minute and 30 seconds. Without the repair, it would probably have won ...
