The missed opportunity
05/15/2016
So much can be achieved with very little effort if you do everything right!
The main sponsor of the Monaco Grand Prix Historique, Credit Suisse, organized a sensational photo shoot with Sir Stirling Mossand his Maserati 250F, in which he won the Grand Prix in the Principality in 1956.
The location at the port of Monte Carlo was perfect, even the weather was right. In the end, it wouldn't have mattered that the photograph was taken in the completely wrong direction due to the sponsor's background.
It was foreseeable that not just five photographers would come to take a picture of Stirling Moss. And so a mass of fans streamed in and surrounded the Monoposto, so that hardly anything could be seen of the background.
In this disorganized chaos, it was unfortunately impossible to take a picture with anything approaching a clear background. The picture fell completely into the water, so to speak, and not only that, but a cameraman and his expensive equipment also went screaming into the harbor basin. Even our star couldn't help but laugh.
Just a small barrier would have created an absolutely historic image for eternity, but the lack of barrier tape or a person responsible for it meant that the whole effort was for nothing.
In principle, this meant that all the effort that had been put into the photo was useless. Just a shame ....
We will of course be reporting in detail on the Monaco Grand Prix Historique in the near future.
