Where have all the beautiful details gone?
When we take photos of cars, we notice them in particular. Like recently, on the occasion of the Dolder Classics two weeks ago . Old cars simply have wonderful details!
Even the pre-war cars have many unusual shapes and finishes, cooling openings and cladding to offer.
But it was mainly the Americans in the fifties to seventies who really drew on the full potential. It's hard to get enough of the detailed solutions.
And when you portray a car, you quickly end up with a lot of detailed shots because there are so many interesting things to show.
After all, the designers had a free hand; the aim was not to minimize the number of add-on parts and simplify production as much as possible.
Above all, the car had to look good and stand out from the crowd.
In contrast, modern cars are dominated by aerodynamic lines that tolerate relatively little "frippery". The edges are smooth, the cooling air is drawn into the car as hidden as possible and used several times (as in the new Honda NSX, for example). No wonder then that the focus is mainly on full-length shots.
