Very, very British

The scenery was reminiscent of Great Britain, not only because the guest club of the Rolls-Royce Enthusiast Club made its way to the Schwägalp with over a dozen of its treasures from the 1930s to 1980s and many English sports roadsters drove to the foot of the Säntis with the top down, the weather was also very British.
However, it was not only the cars from the island that braved the rain last Sunday, but also around 120 other classic cars that gathered for the 11th classic car meeting on the Schwägalp in the east of Switzerland.
The ladies in vintage clothing and petty coats under an umbrella, which was carried by gallantly dressed gentlemen waiting to be judged in the Concours d'Elegance, looked stylish and in keeping with the setting.
Thirteen vehicles took part in the competition for the Prix d'Elegance. The condition was an age of at least 50 years. The first prize was awarded to Markus Jaggi for his Rolls-Royce from 1926 and, with 90 years of service, probably the oldest car on the course. In the motorcycle category, Peter Berner was the winner with his BMW sidecar.
Instead of the traditional open-air banquet in front of the impressive Alpstein backdrop, cold hands and feet were warmed up in the new parking garage with music and barbecues.
Just like the British, the Helvetians didn't let the cold and wet weather spoil their mood. The 300 or so participants and many guests were in high spirits as they chatted about the good old days, a bit of football and a bit of Brexit.
