The German advertisers from British Leyland had gone a long way, although the name of the Austin Allegro was of course somewhat reminiscent of music.
"...and every price a drumbeat, from DM 7,590" they continued with the music theme. "The Austin Allegro is the successful composition of technology and comfort," the marketing people wrote. And despite everything, the Austin Allegro didn't really take off - no wonder, as it had to inherit the successful Morris/Austin 1100/1300, which was once designed by Pininfarina and was based on the revolutionary Mini platform ...
The advertisement can of course also be found in large format in the Zwischengas archive .
