Is the Everrati Pagoda really the solution to our problems?
The Mercedes-Benz 230 to 280 SL from the W113 model series is certainly one of the super classics. An attractive design and the typical Mercedes qualities keep the prices at a high level. Almost everyone likes the Pagoda, and the timeless lines are still convincing today.
The company "Everrari" converts Pagodas into climate-friendly electric vehicles. The electric motor delivers 300 hp and, depending on the battery, you can drive 260 to 320 km and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in seven to eight seconds. Logically, without much noise.
Everrati has left the exterior largely intact; only a modified "rev counter" indicates the conversion at first glance, which is reversible according to Everrati.
The conversion is not cheap, at around £330,000, not including taxes and the base vehicle. But at least the car will be restored for this money.
Of course, the electric Pagoda can drive completely emission-free (locally). However, because the construction of the components and the conversion produces a lot of CO2, climate friendliness will probably fall by the wayside for the next X thousand kilometers.
So you certainly won't save the world with the converted 230 or 280 SL, but perhaps you will save your own peace of mind? We wouldn't recommend the big investment; recent auction results have shown that potential buyers don't really appreciate such conversions. And you can no longer enjoy the wonderful sound of the straight-six engine ...
