Let's think about the typical "company car". The kind of car that is provided by the boss so that his employees don't have to drive their own cars for out-of-town appointments. Typically, the choice falls on robust, undemanding makes that do not resent the careless handling of the changing drivers, even in the long term. On top of that, they should also look a little bit respectable; after all, the car sent out inevitably also represents the company.
This makes the selection of models on the cover of this logbook from the 1980s all the more interesting. Of course, typical representatives of the above-mentioned genre can be found here, such as the mid-range Mercedes-Benz series or the Audi 80, but Ford Taunus and Opel Rekord, the German middle-class heroes par excellence, are surprisingly absent. In their place are less frequently seen, but still "sensible" cars such as the Renault 20 or the Toyota Corona Mark II.
However, when looking at the green silhouettes, the question inevitably arises as to how many companies have really provided their employees with a Fiat X1/9 or an Opel Kadett Aero. After all, the company car shouldn't be too much fun, otherwise everyone would just be on business trips and no longer in the office.
