Cars would only be half as fascinating without the people who construct, design and, of course, drive them. Because without them, we would only be able to admire them when they are stationary, there wouldn't even be a shape to admire - or no car at all.
Two of these gentlemen, whose cars are better known than their faces, are Jean Rédélé and Amédée Gordini. The two Frenchmen not only made their mark with their names, but also in motorsport - initially independently of each other, and later together. Here, the "Witcher" (right) demonstrates his new three-liter V8 to the Alpine founder in July 1967, with which the Alpine A211 and A220 would later compete successfully in the World Sports Car Championship.
