Only a third would be satisfied with a classic under EUR 25,000 (question of the week)
Over the last ten to twelve years, interesting classic cars have increased significantly in value. Some classic cars are twice or three times as expensive as they were a decade ago. But are enthusiasts really prepared to spend a lot of money when buying their dream classic car? We asked Zwischengas readers: "How much would you pay for your dream classic car?"
Only six percent of the 431 readers who responded would limit themselves to a budget of less than EUR/CHF 10,000 when buying a classic car.
28.5 percent would spend up to EUR/CHF 25,000 and a further 30.2 percent up to 50,000. 25.3 percent would also part with EUR/CHF 100,000 if the right car was on offer.
As expected, the air becomes thinner above that. 6.5 percent would also be prepared to pay up to EUR/CHF 250,000 for a classic, 1.6 percent up to EUR/CHF 500,000. And as many as 1.9 percent would also invest sums in excess of half a million for a classic.
This means that almost two thirds of respondents would be prepared to pay EUR 50,000 or CHF 50,000 for their dream classic car.

A comparison with a similar survey eight years ago is also interesting . Back then, the proportion of readers who would limit themselves to EUR 25,000 was around 40 percent instead of 34.5 percent now. At the same time, those who wanted to spend up to EUR 500,000 or even more were more strongly represented than in the new survey.
