The 30th Ennstal-Classic starts today
07/21/2022
Today at 9:00 a.m. sharp, the first car will drive off the starting ramp in Gröbming (Styria) and take the 30th Ennstal-Classic under its wheels.
The first event took place 30 years ago on September 4, 1993. Once it had to be postponed by a year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Otherwise, there have always been between 42 (at the inaugural event in 1993) and around 235 vehicles (up to 1972, at the 30th edition) at the start. There are only a handful of people left who were already there in 1993, but more on that in a later article.
Despite the enormous heat, yesterday we calibrated, tuned and trained for all we were worth (or rather the clocks were telling us) (see picture above).
We wish all participants an exciting and mishap-free event and hope that the weather gods will not rage too much.
It was Helmut Zwickl and Michael Glöckner who founded the rally event back then and who still organize this now internationally renowned and appreciated event today. It's only right to congratulate them once in a while, even with a sticker on the participating vehicle.
