With the Alfa Romeo 1900 C Sprint at the Ennstal Classic
Summary
The 1900 model series (1950 - 1958) was Alfa Romeo's first large-scale production and, together with the Giulietta series (from 1954), once again ensured the Milanese manufacturer's survival and also the leap to large-scale production. In 1951, Alfa Romeo presented the platform, shortened by 13 cm, for the construction of a coupé and a convertible. The coupé's body design was created by Alfa Romeo's "in-house couturier" at the time, Carozzeria Touring Milano. Pinin Farina (then still written in two words) was responsible for the design of the convertible. Numerous other coachbuilders such as Boano, Boneschi, Castagna, Ghia, Pinin-Farina, Worblaufen and Zagato built coupés in small series. A total of 1,796 of the three series were built (Fusi). Around 650 of the 1st series were built between 1950 and 1953. In 1958, the 1900 series was replaced by the 2000 series (Tipo 102).

The countdown is on. Just a few days to go until the highlight of the season. The Austrians call it "driving in the last paradise" and this attribute for the Ennstal-Classic comes pretty close to reality. Over 200 teams are taking part, over 400 had registered and wanted to take part! So, a final check on the Alfa Romeo 1900 C Sprint to ensure that the car would last the three stages from Thursday to Saturday. Nothing could be more annoying than breaking down and dropping out of the classification. The 1900 enjoys a major service check. All the oil levels are checked, a new oil filter is fitted, the engine oil is changed again and the electrics are checked. There is enough time to look for a replacement for the driver's side windshield wiper motor, which has broken down. At worst, the passenger's windshield can't be cleaned - not so bad, she has to operate the Tripmaster and the stopwatches and read the road book, so there's no time to look outside anyway... The suspension parts, steering play and underbody are also checked.
