Driving the rare classic Alfa Romeo even in winter?
11/02/2016
Of course, the world was a very different place 60 years ago when the advertisement shown appeared. Back then, nobody thought that an Alfa Romeo 1900 C Super Sprint would one day become a valuable classic and that expensive restorations would have to get rid of the traces of the past, especially harsh winters.
But back then, the marketing people wrote:
Do you park your car over the winter? Are you not entirely convinced of its comfort and driving characteristics?
If you had an Alfa Romeo, you would judge it like this: With its light and precise steering, its excellent road-holding on wet or snowy roads, but especially with its unique air-cooled turbo brakes, which instantly translate any pedal pressure into the desired braking effect, Alfa Romeo is the car for winter.
With Alfa Romeo you can drive just as comfortably, safely and economically in the cold season as in summer. Nothing can stop you from reaching your destination safely and quickly in any weather with Alfa Romeo."
Yes, that's how it was back then, and some people bought an Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint as a coupé for 16,000 francs or a 1900 Super Sprint as a coupé with a five-speed gearbox for 25,500 francs. And fitted winter tires.
The advertisement is of course also available in our picture archive to make it easier to read .
