For advanced Ford users?
11/11/2016
The marketing people chose the headline "The Capri for advanced drivers" for the advertisement for the Ford Capri RS 2600. They missed the pun (see our title) and probably didn't want to.
Ford was very proud of the RS 2600, and it really was something. The text emphasized its special features in particular:
"It's 150 hp. 200 km/h fast and is called the Capri RS 2600. Its engine works with fuel injection. Its chassis is based on the experience gained with the successful factory racing Capri. Its cockpit has bucket seats. Leather steering wheel and sports instruments .
This Capri for advanced drivers is available in two versions: In a road-going version suitable for everyday use. And in a lightweight version for racing use only. And only at Ford Rallye Sport dealers. At a significantly slower price than you are accustomed to with sports cars capable of 200 km/h .
Capri RS 2600: 2.6-liter injection V6 engine, 150 hp at 5800 rpm. From 0 to 100 km/h in 8.6 sec. Lowered chassis. Front wheels with negative camber, gas pressure shock absorbers. 6-inch aluminum rims, front and rear without bumpers, halogen twin headlights."
And this is what the whole ad looked like:
Of course, we have a historical report on the Ford Capri RS 2600. And we also published an article about its late successor, the Capri 2.8 Injection, a few days ago. And of course there are plenty of photos of the Ford Capri in the Zwischengas picture archive.
