Is this really the solution?
Certainly, we all like the beautiful shapes of the sixties. And the Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT is certainly one of the most attractive cars of this period, Signore Giorgetto Giugiaro did a good job in the service of Bertone.
I wonder what he thinks about the fact that his design has now been resurrected with huge 19-inch wheels and a rear spoiler, a width of 187.4 cm (original 158 cm) and a dry weight of 1250 kg (1040 kg).
A ZF 8-speed automatic transmission (with paddle shifters on the steering wheel, of course) sends the 510 hp of the 2.9-liter V6 engine to the rear axle, just as it does in the modern Giulia sedan, from which most of the technology probably originates.
The result is called the "Emilia GT Veloce" and will probably soon be offered as a new car for around EUR 400,000, allegedly meeting all the necessary European standards. Further information can be found on the manufacturer's website.
Modern technology under an old shell, even if it is made of modern materials? This certainly has a few advantages, as you can probably see out of the car in a reasonable way and despite its increased dimensions, the Emilia GT Veloce still remains a compact (and light) car.
Somehow, however, these huge wheels and the carbon look don't really inspire us, even though the car certainly makes an impressive sound. And, if it's a modern car, shouldn't it also be innovative and forward-looking in terms of design?
It's all a matter of taste, of course. Well, maybe after a test drive we would be convinced by this great-grandson of the Giulia Sprint? Until then, however, the original remains king for us ...
