Classic car drivers also cover longer distances (question of the week)
06/06/2022
Driving an old car today is no less demanding than it used to be, on the contrary. That's why many classic car owners are almost exclusively content with short and familiar routes. At least that's what they say. But is this true and how far do classic car drivers really drive? We wanted to find out with a " question of the week" , which was: How far do you drive your classic car?
The question was not about the annual driving distance, but about trips made regularly (at least once a year) in one or more days. Almost 400 readers gave us their opinion.
And the distances are not that short, as almost 60 percent of respondents regularly cover distances of over 200 km. 10.5 percent even travel 1000 km or more, 18.1 percent cover distances of 500 to 1000 km and 28.8 percent cover stages of 200 to 500 km.
21.2 percent cover distances between 100 and 200 km, 15.8 percent are content with distances between 50 and 100 km.
3.3 percent are on the cautious side and can manage 50 km.
2.3 percent stated that no answer suited their situation.
So overall, people do drive further, but the individual situations probably have a major influence on the distances they drive. For example, someone who only has classic cars from the very early eras will automatically want to cover shorter distances than someone who owns a car from the 1980s.
Graphically analyzed, the answers look like this:
We have already posed the next "question of the week" . This time, we want to know how close to delivery condition a restoration should be carried out.
Of course, all previous "Questions of the Week" , or rather their evaluations, can still be read on the specially created topic channel.
