Due to current events: Royal

As we all know, the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's accession to the throne is being celebrated these days. And, as luck would have it, we photographed an English Triumph 1300, which bore the type designation "Royal" on the rear.
A quick search revealed that in 1967, the Swiss importer came up with the idea of giving the Triumph 1300 the nickname "Royal". How the idea came about is beyond our knowledge, but the naming did not catch on. Everywhere else, the four-door car was simply called the Triumph 1300.
Incidentally, the Triumph was not the only car to be given a royal name. Chrysler also brought out cars with "Royal" in the name and perhaps the best-known car with this designation is the Bugatti Royale (Type 41).
