Because they don't know what they should do!

Not everything was better in the past, but perhaps common sense was more in demand here and there. Today, decisions are made around a table somewhere over coffee and cake that really only make you tear your hair out. As we recently read on "20 Minuten": "The driving license is also becoming increasingly popular because it has been possible to take the test on the machine since 2019".
For the uninitiated: in Switzerland, you can take your driving test in an automatic car and then drive a manual vehicle.
"Many new drivers usually buy cheap used cars with a manual gearbox first," Michael Gehrken, President of the Swiss Driving Instructors Association, was quoted as saying.
And then you suddenly wonder why new drivers are involved in more accidents. But let's be honest, I can't take a snorkeling course to get a free pass for deep-sea diving with oxygen tanks. You can't become a Swiss pilot just by folding a paper airplane.
Traffic has become increasingly dense in recent years and the dangers ever greater. Pedestrians can cross the road with music in their ears without warning, bicycles come from all sides. You can't even hear the cars anymore, but it's clear: "Not all new drivers pose a danger. 90% drive completely sensibly," says Willi Wismer, President of the Zurich Driving Instructors Association. Some of the remaining 10%, however, deliberately take risks."
I would like to question whether this is really all conscious with the movie title "For they know not what they do".
Personally, I believe that driving training, where the car has to be driven at the limit, should be part of basic training. Paragliding training also introduces you to dangerous situations, which should also be part of road traffic training. Of course, this is not intended as a free pass for speeding, but it would allow the still completely inexperienced youngsters to feel for themselves what can happen when ...
