The sad end of "Pfeiffer's motorcycle fever" (obituary)

If he had done his stunts with cars, he would probably have ridden up the Klausen Pass on the left rear wheel and later back down on the right front wheel. He was one of the two or three very best artists on two wheels in the world. He won everything he could and wanted to win. He became European Stunt Riding Champion four times and World Champion four times and also won the Erzberg Rodeo four times. He performed in 94 countries with his own show. For years, five BMW F 800 Rs - packed in crates - were on the road at the same time to be ready for him somewhere on this planet when the show started.
We at "zwischengas" are actually responsible for the four-wheeled sector, but there are always overlaps. This was also the case here with Christian "Chris" Pfeiffer; one of those people you immediately took to your heart. Chris was one of the really good guys, simple and down-to-earth, but still extremely cool. After just five minutes, you got the feeling that you'd known each other since childhood.
You often met him in the Pit Lane Park - a BMW idea to draw attention to the upcoming race in nearby towns before a Formula 1 weekend. A touring car, a Formula BMW car and a Formula 1 car put on a free show for tourists and residents every two to three hours. As it is well known that BMW not only builds cars, but also motorcycles, Chris Pfeiffer was also usually part of the action and captivated the numerous spectators, day and night, with his ingenious motorcycle artistry.
Between the acts, there was always enough time for us to chat together. We all - whether Robert Kubica, Nick Heidfeld, Sebastian Vettel, Timo Glock or Christian Klien - waited together with Chris Pfeiffer for the next performance and had an incredible amount of fun. I remember looking forward to meeting "my new friend" Chris again from Grand Prix to Grand Prix.
I remembered him from time to time and wanted to finally pay him a visit in the Allgäu. Unfortunately, this never happened because the sad news that he had chosen suicide on March 12 at the age of just 51, driven by severe depression, ruined everything. Once again, a great person has left us of his own free will, and we are all left stunned.
