The best Porsche sounds?
02/17/2017
Porsche has published a new video in which five cars and their pronunciation, i.e. the sound of their engines, are presented. As it is called "Best Porsche Sounds", it is intended to "award" the best engine sounds from Porsche. Elaborately recorded in an anechoic chamber, the sounds naturally come into their own.
The question is, of course, whether you agree with the selection and the order. For marketing reasons, Zuffenhausen has of course also included current models, so that not only a Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 from 1972 or a 550 Spyder have slipped into the "Top 5", but also a current 911 GT3 RS, a 918 Spyder and a Carrera GT that is no longer brand new.
Unfortunately, there's a bit too much talking and music in the video, so the sounds don't always come across as well as you'd like them to.
And are these really the best Porsche sounds of all time? We would have something to say about that. There are already 62 different Porsche sound samples on zwischengas.com. And among them are some gems that would certainly have been "top 5" worthy, such as the Porsche 906 (Carrera 6) from 1966, ...
... the Porsche 804 F1 from 1962 ...
... or the Porsche 917 from 1969.
But anyway, the main thing is to keep the cars running!
